Supported and challenged during the apprenticeship
The education of apprentices is the key to future success. We train young people in the professions of ICT specialist, commercial clerk and construction engineer and accompany them on their way into the professional world. As an innovative family business with an international orientation, we offer an exciting apprenticeship where responsibility and capacity for teamwork are the key points.
Looking for an apprenticeship?
The step from school to professional life is a big one. Here, you will meet motivated and patient vocational and practical trainers who will accompany you on your way into working life but who will also challenge you.
You are very welcome to join the KNF family. You will find open-minded and appreciative colleagues who will accept you as a full team member. You will meet nice apprentices that stick together, help each other and with whom you can spend your lunch breaks.
In our videos, our apprentices are happy to tell you more about the apprenticeship as a merchant ► or design engineer ►with us.
Optimal perspectives thanks to well-founded apprenticeship
“Responsible, enthusiastic, interested, independent, open-minded, open to compromise and team-minded, good manners, motivated: In our opinion, these are the ideal preconditions for a successful apprenticeship at KNF Flodos. We got to know our apprenticing company during the open days. The familiar, open atmosphere with a friendly culture appealed to us, the first impression was great. It is a manageable company that intensively cares for its apprentices. Even the CEO cares for us.
People trust us. This is why we take over various responsible tasks at an already early stage of the apprenticeship. We can also use our language skills – on the phone, via e-mail or personally when KNF customers and partners from all over the world come to Sursee.
After the apprenticeship, some of us want to upgrade their education or complete their Federal Vocational Baccalaureate to study. Some want to stay at KNF Flodos because they like it so much. Wherever we go: Thanks to our apprenticeship at KNF, we are ideally prepared for our future career!” – KNF Flodos Apprentices
We Are an Apprenticing Company
Accompanying young people on their way to a career is an important task for us. That is why we have been recognized as a training company.
Sports Friendly Apprenticeship Company
Vocational apprenticeship or sport? No young talent should have to choose one or the other. Swiss Olympic is committed to this. Thanks to flexible and needs-based apprenticeship offers, athletes should be able to concentrate on their sporting career on the one hand, but also be prepared for a successful career start after their career. Training companies that make this possible are awarded the "Competitive sports-friendly training company" vignette by Swiss Olympic. KNF Flodos, the apprenticeship company of ice hockey player Jan Schwegler, is no exception.

During your apprenticeship you will get to know different departments. That means that at the end of your apprenticeship you will be a qualified administrative allrounder.
The first year of apprenticeship you will work in the order processing/export department. You are co-responsible for the correct order entries, the creation of delivery notes and the punctual goods collection by the haulage contractor. In parallel, you will be introduced to reception work. You will learn how to use the telephone switchboard, the distribution of mail, the catering organization as well as the reception of guests and visitors. You can demonstrate and strengthen your communication and organizational skills.
One milestone at the end of the first year of apprenticeship is the final examination. It will be educationally challenging. Certainly, the advice of other commercial apprentices might be useful for you and might encourage you in your learning.
In the second year of your apprenticeship, you will support two departments simultaneously. This requires good self-organization and flexibility from you. On the one hand, you will be introduced to the Marketing & Sales department. There you will check customer orders in the in-house sales department, work in the repair department and take care of internal and group-wide communication with the marketing team. Here, in addition to writing talent and English, creativity is often required. On the other hand, you will work in the AVOR and purchasing departments. As a clerk in AVOR, you are responsible for monitoring stock levels. You also work actively in the warehouse for a few days so that you know our pump components. In the purchasing department you will be co-responsible for the purchase of these components from our suppliers.
Finally, in the third and last year of apprenticeship you will work in the financial accounting department. Here, you could live your flair for numbers. Vendor and debtor accounting will be your daily business there. Correct cash management will be only one of your areas of responsibility. On one day, you will switch workplaces and become part of the HR team. There, you will help with recruitment, record entries/exits and assist with payroll processing. At the same time, you will prepare for your final examination which you will certainly pass successfully.
The three years of year of apprenticeship will fly by. During your apprenticeship you will have gained insight into several different departments and after your apprenticeship you will have a clear idea of your strengths. You will know which working field you like the most and in which field you would like to work and upgrade your education as a merchant in future.
