KNF at the "Symposium on Lab Automation"

Meeting of industry experts on "Smart Automation" in Rapperswil

The 13th "Symposium on Lab Automation" took place from September 12 to 14 in Rapperswil, Switzerland, with presentations by and for experts in the field of automation and instrumentation in the medical and life science sector on innovations and innovative development approaches for laboratory automation with a focus on "Smart Automation".

Key Symposium for Laboratory Automation, Life Sciences and Medical Technology

Swiss Automation is one of the most important conferences in Switzerland, bringing together experts in laboratory automation, life sciences and medical technology. The organizing University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland (OST) works closely with industry and prepares students for the challenges in these fields.

The one-day symposium is held annually and features technical presentations, in-depth discussions and networking opportunities. This year, Marco Reolon, CMO of KNF Neuberger AG in Balterswil, and Stefan Schulze, Sales Engineer at KNF Neuberger AG, represented KNF. Exhibitors included KNF suppliers, Swiss partner companies and the ILT team (Institute for Laboratory Automation and Mechatronics) from the OST.

Working Together for the Accessibility of the Future

KNF was able to contribute to the ILT's Robility Enhanced and VariLeg Enhanced projects. Both projects make an important contribution to accessibility research. While the Robility Enhanced project is developing a robotic wheelchair that can, among other things, open doors and climb stairs, the VariLeg Enhanced project is researching an exoskeleton that will enable paraplegics to walk upright.

KNF Pumps for the Aerospace Industry

Another attendee at the “Symposium on Lab Automation” is currently working on a project that will be used on the ISS in the future. Various solutions are being discussed for this project, including an approach using KNF pumps. KNF has already gained extensive industry experience in this area in previous projects.

Swiss Automation is a platform whose audience is largely made up of experts in laboratory automation, medical technology and robotics. The symposium is therefore important for innovation-driven companies like KNF and we look forward to attending again next year to learn about new exciting projects and make valuable contacts.
