Great commitment: KNF’s locations around the world support a variety of causes – from individual campaigns to the “Advent calendar of heartfelt good deeds,” which contains 24 good deeds for people in need every year.

KNF as a sponsor

Sponsoring is an essential part of cultural, sporting and social activities, which would not exist without media and television. This way of offering support gets developed for broadcasting sports competitions on TV. Advertising on soccer players’ jerseys gets officially permitted in Germany in 1972. Other sports follow suit, and celebrities begin promoting sports as well. But today, sponsoring is not just indispensable for the big teams: sports clubs as well as cultural, charitable and social organizations can not exist without sponsoring. And the companies providing their support also benefit, according to the motto “do good and enjoy when others talk about it.”

A family-owned company with deep roots in the local area knows what is expected of it – even if it is a global player. The local community must be fostered, not just through job creation, but also through support in a social context. In our part of the world, voluntary work is an important part of life, so it deserves to be supported as much as possible. This is actually true for all locations belonging to the KNF Group.

Support may mean providing new jerseys or training equipment for the local soccer club’s youth team, or it may consist of donating a safer slide to the local nursery. KNF supports causes big and small, both locally and abroad.

The Freiburg Marathon, which proudly holds 10th place amongst German Marathon events, has been supported by an international team of KNF runners ever since it was first held in 2004. At the time, 17 runners from KNF Flodos, KNF France, KNF Munzingen and KNF Switzerland set off in freezing weather, demonstrating their enthusiasm and, above all, their team spirit. The KNF locations in Germany and Switzerland support their employees’ voluntary work in clubs, too.

And in addition to sports clubs, important events such as the German youth science competition “Jugend forscht” are also supported to back talented young individuals in the fields of math, computer science, natural science and engineering. After all, these young talents could one day work at KNF! Whenever possible, we offer expert knowledge about pumps for school or university projects. KNF Italy, for instance, supported the local Eco Marathon team, which built a hydrogen-powered car. The hard-working students from a school near Bologna were able to use the knowledge and some micropumps provided by KNF Italy. The team ended up coming second at the Shell Eco marathon for concept vehicles.

KNF is also keen to support health-related projects, of course. DKMS, a German organization for stem cell donation, and the German Red Cross regularly receive support through events and campaigns. Many KNF employees do voluntary work – for the fire services, in youth groups and for humanitarian organizations such as Vision for Africa. A KNF USA employee regularly rides her Harley Davidson in the Pink Ride, a breast cancer awareness campaign. Others collect money for Christmas presents to go to children in need. All of these examples are an impressive expression of the commitment KNF and its employees around the globe bring to good causes – wherever support is needed.
