Diaphragm Liquid Pump Offers Great Advantages

Premiere at Compamed 2019

From November 18 to 21, the Compamed exhibition in Düsseldorf will once again open its doors to well over 100,000 visitors from all over the world. The FP 400 will celebrate its premiere in front of this audience of medical technology experts. With this new development, the pump specialist KNF is once again setting new standards for diaphragm liquid pumps.

In its FP 400 diaphragm liquid pump, KNF has managed to horizontally arrange five diaphragms on a single level for the first time. The new arrangement enables the FP 400 to achieve very low pulsing on both the pressure and suction sides. With this advantage, which was previously only possible with gear pump technology due to construction restraints, the FP 400 has a unique selling point. The typical secondary measures for avoiding pulsing are no longer needed. The functional advantages tied to diaphragm pump technology also come into play — this pump is self-priming and maintenance-free and can operate dry. Its flow rate of up to 4.4 l/min and its unbeatably smooth running mean the pump has a diverse range of potential applications in the medical sector.

This update is ideal for liquid circulation — for instance in devices which manage temperature, including functions such as cooling medical lasers or x-ray devices. Temperature management is also a basic requirement in vital support systems used to stabilize patients’ core body temperature. The pump’s low pulsing means it is very quiet with minimal vibration, which makes for comfortable operating behavior.

This extraordinarily smooth running combined with a suction head of 3 mH2O allows simple handling of both high- and low-viscosity media. Aggressive media are no problem either, since the pump components which come into contact with the media are chemically resistant. As usual, EPDM, PTFE, FFKM and other basic materials can be chosen.

The 5-diaphragm construction limits shearing forces to a minimum, extending the pump’s service life and preserving sensitive media. The FP 400 offers IP65 protection. The maximum operating pressure is 10 mH2O.
