The sun has come back out over the Sonnengarten day care center in Freiburg’s Munzingen district. That’s because neighboring pump manufacturer KNF officially gifted the day care center’s director, Elke Wassmer, and her charges a new slide.
After the old slide was closed off due to safety concerns, the children kept close watch over the 14-day construction project going on on their playground, mesmerized by the new slide’s assembly. And 14 days were long enough – they couldn’t wait any longer for its official presentation, unofficially christening it before you could say “whee!” and rating it “nice” as far as slides go. The day care administration and parents are also happy that the slide complies with the highest safety regulations and is also suitable for children under 3.
The pledge drive for the new slide was started by an employee of the international pump manufacturer KNF, whose head office is located a mere stone’s throw away from the center. “We’re happy to get behind such community-oriented ideas,” says Günter Emig, general manager of KNF Neuberger GmbH. “We’ve had our head office here in Freiburg-Munzingen for over 70 years and we want to give something back to the neighborhood.”
