Some certifications require only the motor to meet these specifications, while others require the entire pump to do so. Products classified as explosion proof need to be enclosed and sealed off from the potentially explosive environment to ensure sparks do not ignite combustible materials in the atmosphere. The enclosure should also be able to contain or at least mitigate an internal explosion.

KNF explosion proof gas pumps can achieve flows up to 220 l/min, depending on model. They offer maximum pressure of 9 bar (rel.) with maximum vacuum of 25 mbar (abs.). They are designed to run with minimal power requirements, a critical feature for explosion proof pumps. They are reliable, operate oil free to eliminate the potential for media contamination and additional maintenance. KNF also offers liquid diaphragm pumps for applications where explosion proof certification is required. Pumps like the NF 1.100 and NF 1.300 EX offer flow rates of 1.2 l/m and 3 l/m respectively. Both pumps have a maximum pressure of 4 bar (rel.) with maximum suction height of 2.5 mH20. They offer safe transfer of explosive and hazardous liquids required in chemical processing, petrochemical refining and other safety critical applications.
