Advanced Pump Drive Technology for Diaphragm Pumps

Six new KNF pump series make use of the most advanced brushless direct current (BLDC) pump motor technology. With these completely new and in-house developed pump drive units from the Digital Customisation series, KNF pushes the technical limits of diaphragm pumps and once again offers several unique and significant advantages for customers. The advanced motors combine outstanding durability, compact dimensions and many options for digital customisation.

Maximum Performance-to-Size-Ratio and Lifetime

DC-BI uses a modern BLDC pump motor and stands for ‘Direct Current Brushless Integrated’. While developing the new pump drive unit, KNF put special emphasis on maximising service life and compactness. For the first time in diaphragm pump technology, the motor has been fully integrated into the pump housing.

This unique integration allows for unprecedented compactness and lightweight, as well as for an optimisation of the bearings. For maximum lifetime, the drive unit uses larger than normal ball bearings. In addition, the ball bearing configuration has been optimised by cutting out the need for a third ball bearing, as it is the case in conventional pump setups. By manufacturing the entire pump drive unit in-house, KNF is also less dependent on a single supplier, further increasing product availability and order reliability.

Full Digital Customisation of BLDC Pump Motor Possible

As DC-BI uses a modern BLDC pump motor and KNF has full control over electronics and software, comprehensive digital customisation is possible. This allows for sophisticated parameterisation of aspects such as motor speed range, motor speed ramp, threshold values or error message output. With this many options for customisation, the new series using DC-BI can be adapted to a multitude of requirements, making them suitable for almost every field of application.

KNF DC-BI Series Range

Currently, six KNF diaphragm gas pump series make use of the new BLDC pump motor technology: KNF NMP 830 DC-BI, NMP 830.X DC-BI, NMP 830 HP DC-BI, NMP 850 DC-BI, NMP 850.X DC-BI and NMP 850 HP DC-BI. These micro gas pumps can handle most gases at a flow rate of up to 8,5 l/m and with a maximum pressure of up to 3 bar. For vacuum generation, they achieve up to 55 mbar abs.

Combined with their advanced DC-BI pump drive technology and many customisation options, they are suitable for even the most demanding applications such as medical equipment, environmental monitoring, inkjet technology or analytical instruments. The new KNF technology is also available for liquid pumps as a project option.
